Invitation to Type 2, Not You!
New Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Program
Recent statistics confirm an increased incidence of diabetes mellitus type 2—commonly known as type 2 diabetes (T2D)—among refugees and immigrants living in the United States. In order to promote T2D awareness and to provide education in a culturally and linguistically proficient manner among refugees and immigrants situated in San Diego County, Nile Sisters Development Initiative has developed the Type 2, Not You! program.
Several of our priority populations, including speakers of Amharic, Arabic, Burmese, Creole, Somali and Swahili, are heavily burdened by multiple chronic conditions, including T2D. Type 2, Not You! will ensure that these populations receive equal access to primary prevention methods in San Diego.
