World Mental Health Day, October 10

Filed in Event News by on October 4, 2017

Every October 10, the global community recognizes World Mental Health Day» as an opportunity to highlight international outreach, education, and advocacy efforts spent to reduce mental health stigma.

In 2016, Nile Sisters Development Initiative ( NSDI ) established MIND ( Matters Involving Neuro-Disorders ) to address mental and behavioral health disparities in refugee and ethnic populations. The new coalition is a community-driven effort that utilizes collective impact strategies to address refugee mental health concerns.

As of September 2017, MIND includes 57 individuals, representing 29 cross-sector entities  / organizations, spanning eight sectors.

On October 10 this year, NSDI will hold a press conference to commemorate World Mental Health Day in San Diego and to introduce the new collective to the community.
