NSDI | Los Angeles to Host Youth Advocacy Training Series: Tik Talk
Beginning August 22nd, 2020, NSDI | Los Angeles», will host a 4-day virtual advocacy series. In collaboration with African Communities Public Health Coalition», Antelope Valley Partners for Health», California Youth Advocacy Network», and UCSF’S The LOOP», NSDI Los Angeles has created an interactive and highly relevant training series, Tik Talk 2020», for youth throughout Los Angeles County.
This free and entirely virtual advocacy series is designed for high-school-aged youth to gain practical knowledge of civil discourse and how they can participate at the local level in making real change in their communities. Tik Talk 2020» uses tobacco as a lens to see the connection between public health and social justice, to equip youth with tools to become advocates for positive change.
Each day, participants have access to two workshops on topics such as Tobacco 101, Grassroot Organizing and Art & Activism. Each workshop includes perspectives from various public sectors, including local health advocates, law enforcement, and statewide policy experts. The series will run from August 22nd to September 12th.
