2015 Achievement Highlights

Filed in Services News by on December 23, 2015

Thanks to our growing community of supporting friends, Nile Sisters Development Initiative grew in important ways that made 2015 one of the best in our fourteen-year history of serving refugee and immigrant populations. Following are the highlights of our achievements this year.

Live Well San Diego
In accordance with our mission of educating refugee and immigrant communities, Nile Sisters became a designated partner of Live Well San Diego. In this collaboration, guided by a shared purpose of creating a healthy, safe and thriving San Diego for all residents, we bridge the gap to mainstream resources by providing culturally proficient services and health promotion to underserved communities.

Back-to-Back Skill Development
Our employment facilitation programs recorded a total enrollment of just under 100 participants. Nile Sisters offers three training options:

  • California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Vocational Training
  • California Family Child-Care Home License Vocational Training
  • California Driver’s License Training

City Heights Green Coalition
Nile Sisters collaborated with I Love a Clean San Diego and San Diego Canyonlands to raise awareness of environmentalism among refugee and immigrant populations. Coalition activities included adoption of the 47th Street Canyon (Olivia Canyon in City Heights) and several community clean-ups, in which Nile Sisters participants volunteered more than 80 hours of service.

Public Recognition for Our Partners
Beginning in 2015, the Nile Sisters website home page includes a panel devoted to our partners’ logos, all hyperlinked to their own website home pages. This is our way of thanking the many partners who have helped us to reach and assist our constituents through the past fourteen years.

You Can Be a 2016 Partner
Nile Sisters Development Initiative has ambitious goals for 2016. Achieving these goals will require a higher level of fundraising than in previous years. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The following table illustrates the power of various donation amounts.
