Funding . Office of Refugee Resettlement Grant

The Administration For Children

In September 2012, the Office of Refugee Resettlement, under the federal Administration for Children & Families, awarded Nile Sisters Development Initiative a three-year grant to provide job-readiness training to San Diego resettling refugees who have resided in the US for no more than five years. This funding enabled the development of the following four critical programs:

  • California driver’s license training
  • California certified nurse assistant (CNA) vocational training
  • California family child-care home license vocational training
  • English as a second language (ESL) tutoring

Funding . The California Endowment Grant

The California Endowment

The California certified nursing assistant (CNA) vocational training program proved to be so successful, Nile Sisters searched for funding to extend enrollment of refugees in San Diego, including those who have resided in the US beyond five years. In May 2013, The California Endowment granted Nile Sisters additional funding to underwrite the program expansion.
